Format and Outline

  • Product
    • Dana and I decided to produce a podcast. This medium was ideal because it is easily accessible and shareable, which promotes public consumption. The audio format allows for more in-depth and intimate conversations that would be too long to quote in a research paper. We were able to craft a dialogue between our research and the interviews, while leaving the original voices intact. We chose to produce three separate episodes between 10-20 minutes so we could have space to explore both the Gangster party and Tequila party in depth. We used the final episode to highlight other student research and explore possible next steps for promoting conversations.
  • Changes
    • Throughout the process, we discuss where certain content would go. We considered organizing the series chronologically and thematically. In the end, the episodes are linked by both time and issue. Themes of hard conversations and misunderstandings as well as the need for empathy pervaded the data we collected, so they are prominent in all three episodes.
