The millennial generation stands out for its diversity and is praised for its acceptance of difference. However, episodes of racial bias continue to rock this nation, including a number of events perpetrated by millennials. How can millennials simultaneously be celebrated for racial tolerance yet be complicit in committing acts of bias? This research paper examines both a number of surveys and polls measuring millennial racial attitudes and qualitative research to investigate whether the millennial generation is as truly accepting as it is purported to be. My findings indicate that millennials overwhelmingly support diversity and difference. However, the data also indicates that sharp attitudinal divides exist along racial lines. I explore how the entrenchment of color-blind ideology has misguided millennials and their understanding of racism. The implications stemming from the pervasiveness of color blindness threaten the ability of millennials to realize racial justice and equality.
