Personal Education

In the exploration of Padres Unidos as an organization, I have further expanded my understanding of what grassroots organizing can accomplish, and how far-reaching programs can be to maintain and support academic success.  Urban education faces a different slew of struggles than other school types, particularly in a city facing unique circumstances such as Santa Ana.  For researchers and stakeholders, this case study hopes to illuminate the importance of community involvement in its own organizing, the significance of volunteers, and the interconnectedness between seemingly detached educational philosophies and frameworks to the active work on the ground and in the community by grassroot organizers.
