I was at the airport for around six hours for quarantine procedures, well waiting, I made this drawing. I’ve not changed much on my approach and medium since last time. One thing I added to this drawing was the element of imagination while being somewhat truthful about the physical forms and functions of the architecture. I drew inspiration from Piranesi, in both ways how he set up a hint of Megalophobia in how he scales the buildings accordingly to human figures, as well as, how he implemented levels of details to articulate structures and textures in his drawing.
One challenge I had was to make the distinction between background and foreground. I attempted to solve this by thining and watering down the ink to allow objects to fade more to the background. However, it runs into conflict with my handling of light and shadow. My reference was looking through the terminal window at night, with multiple light sources. I have yet to find a solution to describe light emitting from behind a glass wall, or light bouncing off of a smooth surface at night.
