To start your six-week, self-designed final project, please email me a written proposal, in the body of the email (not an attachment), outlining your project (either a drawing or a series of drawings), using the following subheads for each answer, NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25th, by 4 PM.
Email subject line: “Self-Designed Proposal / Your Last Name”
Please write in complete sentences that restate the topic (“The media I plan to use are…”), rather than just listing them in outline form.
Please put your name and the title of your project at the top of the email, and include the following subheadings, as they appear here, to organize your proposal.
Thanks!
Subject
Please indicate what your subject will be and what your drawing or drawings will include, in as much detail as possible. If it helps, the typical categories are still-life, portraiture, figure drawing, interior, landscape, abstraction (based on any of the above), and nonobjective drawing.
Theme
Please indicate your project’s theme, either from the list provided in the assignment, or one of your own.
Media
Please indicate the materials or combination of materials you plan to use, including the size of your drawing/s, number of drawings, type of paper, etc. Typically, your choice of media will be a constant in order to focus and unify the project.
Method
Please indicate what technique, approach, style, and/or visual characteristics of the piece/s will be (e.g, naturalistic, expressionistic, high resolution representation, etc.) you plan to use.
Inspiration
Name at least one artist whose work will be an inspiration and guidepost for this project, and insert or attach an image or images of their work that you respond to the most.
Objectives
Please give some idea of what you’re after in this project, from sharpening certain skills to exploring drawing materials, to expressing a feeling or an idea. In other words, what will be the criteria that you (and others) will use to evaluate the drawing once it’s done?
Attachments
Please attach JPGs of any visual materials that help describe your project–thumbnail sketches of the work you envision, previous work of yours, any artists’ work you might be thinking of, or other source material.
