  1. I think my strongest component here is composition. I put my subject off center so he kind of falls off the page. He’s leaning forward with his shoulders almost at a three quarter angle. I don’t think I got his proportions exactly, but I did capture the foreshortening, which is really cool. I tried to get a gradient with the line weight so that his left shoulder would pop forward while the right would fade into the background. I think that part is successful. The line weight on his face has mixed results. The left side again is closer and darker than the right, but I’m not sure there’s a clear center point. His left eye is a strong contender, but his beard is a close second. I like the way his beard mirrors the lines on his jacket, though I wish there were other parallels, as well. The jacket was my favorite part to draw because it is more abstract, so in future drawings, I think I would try to simplify the face.
