  1. Although I was inclined to continue with my earlier pencil version and dive into value, I wanted to return to pen to push myself out of my comfort zones to commit to strong lines. With neither the flexibility of a pencil nor shading, nothing could be hidden. I chose a slight angle that was not quite centered and forced me to observe more closely, but I enjoyed the process of ascertaining shapes within a larger framework during the drawing, and I feel that I effectively drew emphasis to the features that I wanted to stand out through variance in line weight. On the other hand, I created some thicker lines in the hair accidentally and decided to continue to create a few purposefully, but I dislike the outcome. I feel that it requires more care and attentiveness to the placement in a future attempt. I might also extend the shoulders.
